Introduction

Sime Darby Energy Solutions Sdn. Bhd. (SDES), incorporated in Malaysia, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sime Darby Industrial Sdn. Bhd.

SDES is an established Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) contractor primarily for Cogeneration (Cogen) plants. We offer comprehensive and sustainable engineering solutions of the highest standard from the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Cogen plant.

We provide after-sales support and Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) for gas turbines, gas engines and other balance of plant equipment.

Our Journey

Our journey began in 1997 when a collaboration was established with Kawasaki Gas Turbine Asia (KGA) to utilise their gas turbine as the prime mover for our Cogen plant. In 1998, we installed the first gas turbine Cogen plant in Tractors Engineering Complex Malaysia.

Our track record over the years boasts more than 25 Cogen plants constructed in Malaysia across various sectors especially in the oleo-chemical and chemical industries. The plants vary in size, either using gas turbines or gas engines as the prime mover depending on the client’s needs.

We have also constructed the Gas District Cooling Plant that provides centralized chilled water supply distribution for the commercial and government buildings of Putrajaya. Our capabilities of overcoming complex problems and creating innovative solutions have enabled us to breakthrough various engineering feats. We have constructed the first double decker Cogen plant for our customer in Pulau Indah, Selangor.

Furthermore, we have also installed a double gas engine tri-generation plant in Kemaman, Terengganu. Our reputation also encompasses all obstacles in dealing with relevant parties especially those with authority such as Suruhanjaya Tenaga, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, MIDA, Malaysian Green Technology Corporation and etc.

Our maintenance capabilities have also expanded to cover for other balance of plant equipment such as gas compressors and generators. We provide reliable and quick response to our customers’ needs in the event of a breakdown at their Cogen plant. Our services also include comprehensive monitoring of the Cogen plant through SCADA, which allows real time monitoring of the plant. Thus, enabling our team to to respond quicker to potential faults in the plant.
